He has been lauded on five continents, in the national media and at over 1,000 college campuses and national conferences in the course of his career for his penetrating analysis and understanding of the psychology of African people and a range of social issues around the world. KNOW THYSELF:"How wonderful it is to be taught by a free teacher, a spiritual leader, a member of our family who truly loves the family, an architect of transforming processes, a defender of African people, a beacon, a Son of Africa, a divine spirit manifesting our creative genius. Thousands upon thousands of people know Dr. Na'im Akbar as a special treasure. This book is another important gift from him to us. It is our responsibility to study these thoughts, carefully. To follow these teachings is to guarantee our liberation and to guide us toward our divine destiny."
From Foreword by Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III, Calloway Professor of Education at Georgia State University, Atlanta
NEW VISIONS FOR BLACK MEN: [New] Visions for Black Men became the lifeline that helped me go beyond the rhetoric of manhood and dared me to develop a manhood strategy. I can tell you that Visions was one of the many tools I needed to begin a journey of Manhood that has and I pray, won't ever end. For years it was my go to text when I spoke to boiys and men about self development, manhood and the strength found in the relationships of real men.
--From Foreword by Jeffrey Johnson, CEO of JIJ Communications-Cleveland, Ohio
