Mental Laziness, another symptom of Post Traumatic Slave Disorder, deals with having a self-induced dull mind. Often this dullness is caused by drugs either chemical drugs or psychological drugs. Chemical drugs include weed, alcohol, nicotine, etc. Psychological drugs can include food, sex, television, video games, anything you do in excess to shut off the brain artificially.
Mental lazy people just don't want to think about anything complicated. They are not stupid, but fail in academics due to lack of applying themselves. They just want the answer without understanding the problem. They are usually emotional and illogical. They are attracted to every shiny object that comes into view. They are idle, love the appearance of things rather than the actual thing itself. They want the appearance of health and beauty while consuming junk into their bodies. They want the appearance of success with nice clothes and cars, but their bank account is empty. They always look for the easy way out, the path of least resistance.
They are followers, waiting to be enslaved, waiting to be told what to do. Although, they argue and fight enslavement, they would have it no other way. They want to be enslaved, for someone to think for them because they don't want to think for themselves. They just go through the motions of life, neither failing nor succeeding, just hanging on to others. They are like a ship without a sail blow by every which way from wind here and there. They know not where they are going. They are easily influenced and guided by popular culture or whatever the strongest influence is in their life. As soon as a stronger influence appears, they are gone, they change, and now they are doing this or that. They follow the crowd. They take no care to their life or what is happening. This is mental laziness.
For so long, as slaves, we were forced not to think, not to learn, not to apply any mental effort. We were made into mere chattel, beasts of burden. Slaves do what they are told; their only thought is how to please their master. Do you not think this mentality was passed down to each generation? Yes, indeed it was. Hence today, we are always looking for a job, to work for someone else, usually White. Why? Why not create a job, create a market, or an industry? Yet, it is easier mentally to go work for someone else. Let that person do all the critical thinking while we just do what we're told.
It's not about White vs Black. Some of the greatest Black empowerment supporters are White and many Whites have made great strides to free African people worldwide. Yet, the fact remains, our greatest disorder is this: we go to school to get a White education, to go work for White businesses, so we can then spend our money giving it back to those White businesses, then we wonder why our neighborhoods are poor? This is the effect of mental laziness... taking the easy way out.
An African proverb says, "If you want to travel fast travel alone, but if you want to travel far travel with others." This is a team sport called life, but we are playing as individuals. We are competing with corporations and governments, but as individuals, we have no power and no choice but to work for them. As they say, if you can't beat them, join them. So, that's what we do.
What is the solution to mental laziness? Effort, applying oneself when it is hard, and team work. This starts with you. It starts with self-reflection, then bringing awareness to your inner subconscious, and awakening that which in within. This is what we call consciousness. It's nothing mystical, but it's the key to breaking the mental chains that enslave our minds, the laziness keeping us in check, but broke as well.
